SURI and SOMPO collaborate on research on business recovery

SURI is working with Japanese Insurance Company SOMPO to investigate the impacts of two recent earthquakes in Japan. An Adaptive Regional Input-Output (ARIO) approach is being employed to gain insights into the direct and indirect impacts of these earthquakes on specific sectors of the Japanese economy. The 2011 Tohoku earthquake and the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake are being used as case studies.
